Description

Online registration closes at noon on July 3rd. You can still register in person at the derby on July 4th!


AGE:              You may register in only one age division

GUYS AGE DIVISIONS:                 12-14       15-19       20-30       31 & up

GALS AGE DIVISIONS:                 12-19       20 & up


BATS:            You may bring your own bat or one will be provided; (no wooden bats allowed)

Softball bats may only be used to hit softballs

                        Baseball bats may only be used to hit baseballs

BALLS:        Gal’s divisions will be thrown softballs; Guy’s divisions will be thrown baseballs

 

PITCHER:     Bring your own pitcher or risk that an “amateur” on-site will be provided

HELMETS:   Helmets are not required but will be provided

SHOES:         Players must wear closed-toed shoes or cleats


RULES AND SCORING:

PITCHES:     All pitches will be thrown from the area designated for pitchers

Each hitter has 10 swings to hit as many home runs as possible

                                    After 20 pitches, the batter is done regardless of the results


SCORING: (Men’s Division)

ENTRY WITH THE MOST HOME RUNS IS THE TRUE WINNER!

IN THE EVENT THERE IS NO ONE IN THE AGE DIVISION WITH A HOME RUN, THE POINT SYSTEM WILL BE USED

POINT SYSTEM:

175 feet-249 feet: 1 point

250 feet-299 feet: 2 points

300 feet to fence: 3 points

Score is awarded on where the ball lands at first ground contact, not where it rolls to


SCORING: (Women’s Division)

ENTRY WITH THE MOST HOME RUNS IS THE TRUE WINNER!

IN THE EVENT THERE IS NO ONE IN THE AGE DIVISION WITH A HOME RUN, THE POINT SYSTEM WILL BE USED

POINT SYSTEM

125 feet-149 feet: 1 point

150 feet-174 feet: 2 points

175 feet-199: 3 points

200 feet (counts as a homerun)

Score is awarded on where the ball lands at first ground contact, not where it rolls to


FOULS:            Foul balls do not count toward the score but are counted as one of the ten swings

OUTS:                  There are no counted outs in this Derby (count is based on ten swings)

RUNNING BASES:          the batter remains in the batter's box after each swing and does not run, nor circle the bases 

 

 


TIE:     In the event of a HOMERUN TIE the tie-breaker will be based on points

In the event there is a tie in round two, the finalists will receive ONE pitch: the farthest wins
